J.C. Blair President and CEO Lisa Mallon wants to assure area residents that J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and its physician group, J.C. Blair Medical Services, accepts all major insurance plans and will continue to care for all area residents.
J.C. Blair officials learned on Friday that area employers who offer a Geisinger Health Plan to their employees received a letter announcing that PinnacleHealth has terminated its contract with Geisinger Health Plan effective January 1, 2015. “Area employers are calling, concerned that their employees with Geisinger insurance will not be able to receive care at J.C. Blair,” Mallon stated. “Although we are an affiliate partner with PinnacleHealth, we are not owned by PinnacleHealth, and J.C. Blair continues to have contracts with Geisinger and all other major insurances.”
Mallon noted that there is a lot of health insurance competition taking place outside of Huntingdon County – UPMC and Highmark are competing in Blair County; Geisinger and other health plans are competing east of us. “J.C. Blair needs to be able to offer care to all residents and we will continue to negotiate contracts to cover those in our community,” said Mallon.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about their insurance being accepted at J.C. Blair or its affiliated physician offices, they can call Patient Financial Services Director Sandie Mitchell at (814) 643-8851.
