Local Teen Notes Marked Improvement with Aquatic Therapy from J.C. Blair

Mount Union resident, Willie Miner, has experienced the benefit of aquatic therapy, available at J.C. Blair Therapy & Wellness Center after his auto accident in the summer of 2014. Miner was traveling home from work when he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed, causing a broken femur, an incomplete spinal cord break, and other injuries sustained from the impact.

PinnacleHealth Affiliate J.C. Blair Receives Federal Grant to Expand Access to Behavioral Health Services

J.C. Blair Health System, a PinnacleHealth affiliate, announced that the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded a federal grant in the amount of $200,000.00 to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital.

Orthopedic Partnership Kicks off Summer Series at Westminster Woods

A new Huntingdon County orthopedic care partnership announced that it will kick off a summer series of orthopedic educational programs on Wednesday, July 1, with University Orthopedics surgeon William A. Tyndall, M.D., presenting a program on common shoulder problems and current treatments. The program will be hosted by Westminster Woods in the Commons Dining Room, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, starting at 6:00 p.m.  H’ordeurves will be served and seating is limited. Huston Ford Supports New J.C. Blair Convenient Care Center

Huston Ford has joined Mutual Benefit Group and ACCO Brands as a sponsor of the new J.C. Blair Convenient Care Center, located in Huntingdon’s Giant Plaza. Huston Ford President and CEO Steve Huston says, “It’s a privilege to live and work in the Huntingdon community, and I am happy to join other corporate leaders in support of this project.  If we all do what we can, projects like the Convenient Care Center become possible.”  

J.C. Blair Celebrates Convenient Care Center Ribbon Cutting

On Monday, May 18, J.C. Blair Health System celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new Convenient Care Center in the Giant Plaza, Huntingdon. Hospital, community and elected officials cut the ceremonial ribbon and welcomed all in attendance for a first look at the Center with guided tours.

The new facility, which officially opened Tuesday, May 19, features a walk-in health clinic, QuickLAB, and X-ray services open seven days a week, and an occupational health and orthopedic care center open Monday through Friday.

Walkers and Runners Honor Dr. David Miller

Nearly two hundred people came out on Saturday, April 25, 2015, to participate and volunteer for the 7th Annual Dr. David Miller Memorial Run and Walk on J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Hill in Huntingdon. The event benefits the Dr. David Miller Memorial Fund at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation. 

J.C. Blair Welcomes New Pediatrician

J.C. Blair Board of Directors is pleased to announce that pediatrician Rowena Grumbine, M.D. has joined pediatricians Allen Ettenger, M.D. and James Mansberger, D.O. on the hospital’s medical staff. Dr. Grumbine started June 1, practicing with Dr. Ettenger in the Pediatric Care Center located on the third floor of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.

J.C. Blair/PinnacleHealth Acquires 611 MRI/CT State College

Today J.C. Blair and PinnacleHealth announced 611 MRI/CT State College, located on 611 University Drive in State College, became part of their network effective June 1. As part of the vision to deliver high quality, low cost services to patients when and where they need it, this facility provides a new, convenient satellite location for J.C. Blair’s flagship medical imaging services.

J.C. Blair Auxiliary Hosts 31st Annual Children’s Health Fair

The Auxiliary to J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital hosted the 31st annual Children’s Health Fair on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center (HCCTC). This event is the Auxiliary’s premier educational event for second and third grade students from Juniata Valley, Huntingdon, Mount Union, Southern Huntingdon and Tussey Mountain school districts. The event was originally created to orient children to the hospital and provide preventive health education at an early and important age.  It has grown to reach 487 children who attended this year’s event.

J.C. Blair Hospital Crowns its own Singing Idols

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital culminated its National Hospital Week celebrations with the J.C. Blair Idol singing competition.  J.C. Blair Idol winners include third place winner Physical Therapist John Leytham (left), first place winner Information Technologist Gene Stosch (center), and second place winner Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Norman Navarro (right).  This event was one of several planned in celebration of National Hospital Week, May 10-16, 2015, which included a cookout, ice cream social, continental breakfast, corn hole tournament, and cake walk.
