J.C. Blair Nurses Recognized at First Annual Nurses Week Tea

Dozens of those who have answered the call to provide a healing and loving touch gathered at J.C. Blair for a tea in celebration of National Nurses Week, Friday, May 8, to recognize recipients of the first annual J.C. Blair Nurse Excellence Awards.

The event featured a recognition ceremony honoring those who provide the highest quality of care and demonstrate the importance of being a team player, while remaining respectful and holding safety to the highest standard.

ACCO Brands Pledges $50,000 to new Convenient Care Center QuickLAB

ACCO Brands has made a $50,000 commitment to J.C. Blair’s new Convenient Care Center QuickLAB, which opened May 19 at the Giant Plaza in Huntingdon.  

J.C. Blair Volunteers Recognized at Annual Luncheon

J.C. Blair Hospital recognized its volunteers with a luncheon April 14 in celebration of National Volunteer Week.  J.C. Blair volunteers contributed a record breaking 11,100 hours of their time and talent in 2014. This year’s luncheon focused on a “Volunteers: A Work of Heart” and performance of South Pacific by Huntingdon Area High School Theatre students.

J.C. Blair Plans Convenient Care Center Ribbon Cutting May 18

On Monday, May 18, J.C. Blair Health System will celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the new Convenient Care Center in the Giant Plaza, Huntingdon. Hospital, community and elected officials will cut the ceremonial ribbon at 8:30 a.m. and Hospital staff will offer tours of the new facility following the ceremony until 10:00 a.m.  The new center will officially open Tuesday, May 19, at 6:00 a.m. when the new QuickLAB opens, and will then be open seven days a week.

Mutual Benefit Group Pledges $100,000 to new J.C. Blair Convenient Care Center

Mutual Benefit Group (MBG) has made a commitment to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, and to healthcare for Huntingdon County and surrounding communities, through a $100,000 commitment to J.C. Blair’s new Convenient Care Center scheduled to open May 19 in the Giant Plaza in Huntingdon.

J.C. Blair Foundation Elects New Director

The board of directors of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation elected longtime Huntingdon County resident, Air Force Colonel O.J. Johnston, to a three-year term on its board. This volunteer board of directors governs the Foundation, giving direction and approval for the functions necessary to carry out its mission of providing funds to support and enhance the delivery of services at J.C. Blair.

JC Blair/Kiwanis Sponsor Community Wellness Check May 2

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Kiwanis Club of Huntingdon are partnering for the fourth year to offer a Community Wellness Check on Saturday, May 2, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the J.C. Blair Education Center on the Hospital campus in Huntingdon. The Wellness Check is an affordable blood analysis – over $350 value for just $40. Testing includes a lipid panel, metabolic panel, TSH (thyroid check), hemoglobin/hematocrit, and hemoglobin A1C.

J.C. Blair Maternity Unit Receives New Mattress Pads

The J.C. Blair Hospital Foundation received a gift designated to the Maternity Department at J.C. Blair Hospital for the purchase of new stretcher mattresses, as seen in the above photo. This gift was made possible through a community Christmas music program, directed by Janis Moberg with pianist Bev Peachey, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Marklesburg, and a gift from the Blair/Huntingdon County Chapter of Thrivent for Lutherans. J.C. Blair Gastroenterologists Awarded Board Recertification

The American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) recently awarded Michael Gaugler, D.O. and Keith Waddle, D.O., recertification in the medical specialty of gastroenterology. Drs. Gaugler and Waddle are active members of the J.C. Blair Hospital Medical Staff with offices on the Hospital campus. Their practice specializes in the medical care of digestive and liver disorders, which includes screening and diagnostic colonoscopies, and other endoscopies performed in the Ambulatory Care Unit of J.C. Blair.
