J.C. Blair and Broad Top Area Medical Center Merge Practices

Huntingdon, PA (8/30/2016) – Effective September 1, 2016, J.C. Blair’s Huntingdon Family Care Center (HFCC) and Trough Creek Medical Care Center (TCMCC) will merge with Broad Top Area Medical Center’s Federally Qualified Health Center (BTAMC FQHC) to become practices of BTAMC FQHC. Patients of J.C. Blair’s practices will continue to see their same physician at the same office locations in Huntingdon and Cassville. The only changes will be new signage and billing from the Broad Top Area Medical Center rather than J.C. Blair Medical Services.

Kish Bank Gift Puts JC Blair ER Project over the Top

Huntingdon, PA (8/9/2016) – Kish Bank has committed $25,000 to the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Emergency Department expansion project, putting the project over goal in its fundraising efforts.  Linda Carpenter, executive director of development and the J.C. Blair Foundation announced, “Kish Bank stepped forward with this commitment to complete the fundraising portion of the project, bringing us over the million dollar mark for funds committed by members of the Huntingdon County community.

JC Blair Rated in Top 22% of Nation's Hospitals

Huntingdon, PA (7/28/2016) – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) yesterday released star ratings for hospitals on its Hospital Compare website ( J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon rated in the top 22% with a four star rating, one of 934 hospitals out of a total of 4,599 hospitals nationwide.

Jim's Anchorage Gift Supports ER Expansion

Huntingdon, PA (7/1/2016) – J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital recently accepted a generous commitment from Jim’s Anchorage in support of the emergency department expansion project.  This gift will name an exam room in the renovated space. The exam room will be one of 14 rooms that will be equipped with new furnishings and equipment, wall-mounted televisions, and improved patient accessibility for staff.

Community State Bank Supports JC Blair ER Expansion

Huntingdon, PA (6/23/2016) – Community State Bank of Orbisonia has stepped up to support healthcare in Huntingdon County for the second time in recent months with a gift of $5,000 for the Emergency Room expansion project currently underway.

Last spring, Community State Bank made a $10,000 commitment to the new Convenient Care Center located in the Giant Plaza on Route 22. 

Cook Family Supports JC Blair ER Eye Care Room

Huntingdon, PA (6/17/2016) – After 40 years of serving the Huntingdon community as an optometrist, Dr. John Cook and his wife Carol are extending their community-minded spirit to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital with a contribution of $25,000 to sponsor a state-of-the-art eye exam room in the newly refurbished Emergency Department.  “I can’t think of anything better suited to us than the eye exam room in the new ER,” stated Dr. Cook.

JC Blair Opens New ER Registration Area

Huntingdon, PA (6/10/2016) The artist rendering of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s new Emergency Department Registration Area becomes a reality today, Friday, June 10, as the new Reception, Registration and Triage areas of the new ER open for service, following inspection and approval from the Department of Health.

Seven Points Marina Supports ER Expansion

Huntingdon, PA (5/27/2016) – Seven Points Marina recently demonstrated support for the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Emergency Room expansion currently underway with a generous donation.

                This gift will fund the medication room in the ER, which will be named for the Filson family business. The medication room will be equipped with a state-of-the-art medication dispensing system designed to eliminate human error and improve care to patients.

Isett Family Foundation Supports J.C. Blair

The J. Melvin and Beulah M. Isett Community Foundation recently announced its support of the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Emergency Department expansion project with a commitment of $50,000.
Mel Isett, who also operates the Isett Acres Heritage Museum in Huntingdon, explained, “We all depend on the availability of healthcare in our community, especially when it comes to emergency situations. We are pleased to be able to offer this support for J.C. Blair and for everyone who visits, lives or works in Huntingdon County.”

Juniata Valley Schools Celebrate National Bike to School Day May 4

Huntingdon, PA, 5/2/16– Drivers traveling on Route 305 between Petersburg and Alexandria on Wednesday, May 4, may encounter possible traffic delays between 7:45 – 8:30 a.m. Students from Juniata Valley School District will be participating in the 5th Annual National Bike to School Day and will be biking to school during these times.

Approximately 30 students will be biking to school Wednesday, May 4, along with parents, teachers and community leaders.
