J.C. Blair’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Earns Nationally Recognized Certification

Denise Sheffield, RN, CCRP recently completed all the necessary requirements to become a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP), making her the first nurse in the region to receive this designation. Sheffield serves as the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and NEXT STEP Service Leader and is encouraging and mentoring other nurses in her field to become certified.

“This is an opportunity to enhance our patients’ experience and to grow our cardiac rehab program,” Sheffield said.

Huntingdon Bar Association Gives to J.C. Blair ER Project

Huntingdon, PA (2/22/16) – J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation announces a gift from the Huntingdon County Bar Association in support of the Emergency Department expansion and renovation project currently underway. While Bar members are often in the public eye individually, they have elected to come together as a group to provide support for this project, which they see as valuable to our entire county and surrounding communities.

Obstetrician/Gynecologist Returns to J.C. Blair

The staff and Board of J.C. Blair Health System in Huntingdon are pleased to welcome obstetrician/gynecologist Ralph Aldinger, D.O., back to its medical staff.  Dr. Aldinger joined Dr. Norman Navarro, Dr. Joseph Meyn, and nurse practitioner Romona Shope in the J.C. Blair’s Women’s Care Center on January 4.

Mount Union Couple Sponsors J.C. Blair’s Cardiopulmonary Phase III “NEXT STEP” Program

Huntingdon, PA (12/22/15) – Ralph and Josie Park of Mount Union have committed $50,000 toward J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s new Phase III Cardiac Rehab program, NEXT STEP.  NEXT STEP is a self-monitored exercise and risk management program for those who have completed the outpatient Phase II cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Shavers Creek Grange Donates Baby Quilts to J.C. Blair

Representatives of the Shavers Creek Grange #353 delivered a handmade quilt to newborn Rowen Taylor Raffensberger of Mount Union. Rowen, son of Kimberly Houck and Sam Raffensberger, was born at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital on December 3, 2015 at 9:42 a.m., weighing six pounds, seven ounces. Pictured with Rowen, left to right, are his mother Kimberly; Beverly Fitzgerald; J.C. Blair maternity nurse Sabrina Waters, RN; and Vanessa Locke with other handmade quilts donated for J.C. Blair newborns by the Shavers Creek Grange.

J.C. Blair Reports 9th Annual Scott Grugan Memorial Event Results

Over 100 individuals participated in the 9th Annual Scott Grugan Memorial 5K Trail Run and Walk that was held on Saturday, October 17 at Flagpole Hill in Huntingdon. People of all ages gathered together to enjoy a walk or run through the wooded trails in memory of Scott Grugan, a well-respected physician and friend of many of the participants.
